Historic Haunts of the South Book Reviews
"A comprehensive guide to the best haunts in the south.
Jamie's personal accounts take the history and hauntings of Historic Haunts of The South to a new level.
Engaging, informative and tough to put down.
Don't read this book in the bathroom. The 109 pages will draw you in and people will worry. : ) "
~David Sloan Author/Owner of Key West Ghost Hunt
Is the cold northern winter getting you down? Are you ready to warm up with some of the ghosts that haunt the southern states? Grab a warm, cozy spot by the fireplace and transport yourself to the “Historic Haunts of the South” by Jamie Roush Pearce.
Jamie is both an author and a paranormal investigator who has visited the locations, interviewed witnesses, and has done paranormal investigations at the majority of the haunted sites. "Historic Haunts of the South" is a collection of some of the South's most haunted and historic sites.
Some of the tales you will discover are “The Streaking Mardi Gras Ghost at the Hotel Monteleone”, “The Brown Mountain Lights”, “The Ghost of the Dwarven Jester at the Castle”, “The Paranormal Postman Captured on Film,” and “Thomas Jefferson's Ghost at the Monticello".
Visit the Old County Clay Jail in historic Green Cove Springs, Florida where investigators still hear the cell doors opening and closing, voices, and footsteps of the past. Some report being touched by a ghostly presence.
Check into the Riverview Hotel in New Smyrna, Florida and learn about the ghost of “Christa”, one of the former owners of the historic hotel. Keep your eye out for Spooky the cat—still living another life here.
Stop and check out the ghosts of Jekyll Island, Georgia—especially the Jekyll Island Hotel which opened in 1888. Some of the past guests have enjoyed their stay at this mansion that they refuse to check out! Pearce believes this is one of the most active locations she has ever investigated.
And don’t forget everyone’s favorite plantation house, The Myrtles in St Francisville, Louisiana. Be on the lookout for Miss Chloe, the plantation slave that was caught spying on conversations of the owner. It is said she still roams the grounds keeping one ear on the happenings of the Myrtles acreage."
~Debe Branning Author
“In Historic Haunts of the South, Jamie Roush Pearce introduces the reader to some of Dixie’s spookiest locations. Some of them, like the Waverly Hills Sanatorium and Myrtles Plantation, are world-renowned hot spots of supernatural activity; well-researched stories from lesser known sites such as the old county jail in Green Cove Springs, Florida and the Black Pelican Restaurant in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina will make you want to hop in your car and check them out for yourself. As with her previous writings, Jamie shares a wealth of personal ghost hunting experience as she roams the region in search of fascinating legends and interesting and true ghost stories. If you want to learn more about the South and its intriguing paranormal past, Historic Haunts of the South will be an enjoyable and informative read.”

Historic Haunts Florida Book Reviews
“One of the, er, "quirky" things about us ghost hunters is that, even when we think of vacation, beaches, and sunshine, we think of... the dead. Jamie Roush Pearce, has put together the ultimate guide for parapsychologists in Paradise, or anyone with an interest in historic hauntings. "Historic Haunts Florida" has everything you would expect: creaky lighthouses, drafty bed and breakfasts, haunted marinas. And all of our old favorites are here, including the Key West ghosts of the Hemingway home and the never-fail tale of Robert the Doll. But Roush is an insider, and she also brings the reader some great stories from the case files of her own creeping around, including stories of the Versace Mansion, St. Augustine's aviation graveyard , and the supernatural residue of the Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 34, where a cabin fire took the lives of the entire crew during a launch test in January 1967. Part of this section includes Roush's recollection of standing on a nearby causeway when the shuttle Challenger exploded. And it is this first hand, narrative style, by one who has lived and breathed the ghosts of Florida her entire adult life, which makes this book such an engaging read, even for seasoned investigators. The blend of history and paranormal investigation and introspection is perfect. Highly recommended.”
~Ursula Bielski, Author/Owner Chicago Haunts
"A perfect blend of history and hauntings." He also mentioned, "Loving the stories! The fact that you have had been to them all makes it even better."
~David Sloan, Author Haunted Key West, Ghosts of Key West, Quit Your Job and Move to Key West, and more
"I like how you broke up the stories with different fonts and images. As for the tales themselves, they are told in a lyrical, concise fashion that held my attention from beginning to end. I learned a lot. Thanks much!"
~Charles Adams III Author of Philadelphia Ghost Stories and many more
